Drumlins In Winter, Black and White
These hills are called "the drumlins“ near Zug in Switzerland. On each hill is one tree, it is either a symbol for the birth of a farmer’s son or it is a symbol for the values of the French Revolution.
There is also a legend about two farmers. They had made a pact with the devil, because they wanted more farmland. So the devil pushed the ground up from below to create these hills. First the farmers were happy about the gained land area. But as the hills became steeper and steeper and the cultivation got more difficult, they wanted to dissolve the pact with the devil. So they planted linden tree on top of the hills and the devil couldn’t stretch out the hills any more.
